How about the new Ford Rally Sport Trainer (RST) – adults ooh and ah, but kids as young as 10 years old are getting to drive it in a safe controlled environment. Ford shares in the dreams of our youth by offering the Ford Rally Academy in Silverstone (Home of British motor sports.)
Here’s a chance for underage children to learn the art of rally competition and see their dreams come to fruition. The academy isn’t a playpen for youngsters – it’s a regimented training facility with an established training program encouraging young hopefuls to become the next rally champions.
What’s that you say – the kids at the Ford Academy are learning to drive the Ford Rally Sport trainer. This little trainer knows how to maneuver corners, kick up gravel and literally fly from one spot to the other. It’s not about to shrivel up from a roll-over or fall apart from side confrontations – nope this RST is made with kids in mind.
No doubt driving a RS on a computer screen is fun, but once your youngster sits in a RST and drives it on a track – the computer screen will be left in the dust! The Ford Academy concentrates on a safe environment with a training program allowing a young person to learn the art of the rally sport. Youngsters have a great time and learn at their own pace.
Excitement fills the air as children too young to drive on public roads prepare themselves for the future of rally sports. Peter Beattie, a former Ford motor sport rally engineer and founder of BR racing is “top dog” at the academy. He oversees all functions and his primary goal is training youngsters technique and safety, while preparing them to be the next rally sport champions of the future.
It’s hard to perceive that our next rally sport competitors are in the making, as we speak. Ford has truly made dreams come true for the little rally enthusiasts.
